"The Foundry" was based upon the concept of a community bank being forged together by creative individuals. The raw environment of rough-hewn floors, beams, concrete walls, exposed brick, and steel-clad walls, inspired the graphics. I designed a custom herringbone pattern, with floorboard-like details. A custom logotype, made of bent steel, greets guests as they enter the lobby.
The craft metaphor extended to a large amount of hand-drawn elements, such as the typographic statement about The Foundry, which was rendered simply in pencil.
Umpqua's iconic legend mural was also hand-drawn in pencil, in collaboration with all of the people who work in the office.
